Abstract
Poster describes the use of Facebook applications in an academic medical library. The poster will demonstrate the ways the library uses Facebook as a promotional and communication tool, the methods it uses to promote the library’s presence on Facebook,, and librarians’ evolving attitudes about whether or not to use it. The library’s successes, challenges and future plans for using this outreach tool will also be discussed.

Abstract
The purpose of this study is to identify library outreach needs and opportunities for students within Revelle College. Data collected from first- and second-year students and Revelle College Student Affairs and Academic Advising staff will be used to create a detailed outreach plan which includes specific activities and communication methods that the COL can use to promote the UCSD Libraries. By learning current library usage and recognizing preferred communication preferences of students, the COL will be able to provide outreach by publicizing library services, resources, and learning opportunities to students.

- Nancy Stimson for her research project on John H. Hickcox (1832-1897) publisher of United States Government Publications.
Abstract
Nancy Stimson received a grant from LAUC R&PD for her research project on John H. Hickcox (1832-1897) publisher of "United States Government Publications: A Monthly Catalogue," a nineteenth century index of United States government publications. Funding covered travel to Duke University Special Collections in June 2003 to look for primary documents related to Hickcox, including an unprocessed collection of the papers of W.H. Lowdermilk. Lowdermilk published Hickcox's catalog for a while, was a fellow Washington DC bookseller, and may have even been a friend of Hickcox. It was proposed that this collection might contain materials that would further elucidate Hickcox's activities and contributions.
- Jim Cheng for his research project entitled, "An annotated bibliography of Chinese Film Study."
Abstract
Jim Cheng received a grant from LAUC R&PD for his research project entitled, "An annotated bibliography of Chinese film study." As no such bibliography exists, Jim began this work in 1999 to fill a need for reference tools in this area of study. Funding covered travel to the Shanghai Library in China where Jim studied their monograph collection on Chinese film to ensure that materials not covered in online catalogs are includedin the bibliography. This grant also covered salary for a research assistant to help compile and organize the three indexes designed for the project.
