KPS - National Assembly adopts resolution denouncing North Korea
Seoul, September 23 (KPS)--The National Assembly at its plenary session
today unanimously adopted a resolution condemning North Korea for
infiltrating armed guerrillas into the East Coast using a mini-submarine.
The resolution was tabled jointly by the three major political parties
including the opposition.
The resolution defined the latest infiltration incident on the East
Coast not as a simple act of espionage but a clear military provocation
which can never be tolerated.
The resolution said that - The National Assembly will take the lead in
preparing a national security posture to resolutely cope with any act of
provocation and invasion by North Korea now that North Korea has proven to
have not abandoned its anachronistic aim of unifying the country through
communization.
- the National Assembly urges the Government to do its utmost in not
only dealing resolutely with North Korea's armed provocations, but also in
thoroughly weeding out North Korean spies operating in the South and
eliminating the "impure" forces in the South.
- the National Assembly urges the Government to immediately complement
all imperfect military matters so as to more expeditiously deal with
surprise infiltrations of armed Communist guerrillas, thereby heightening
national
trust in our military forces.
- the National Assembly urges the international community to render
close cooperation in checking North Korea's provocative actions, by take
note of the fact that peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula are being
constantly threatened by North Korea.
- the National Assembly urges North Korea once again to discard its wild
notion of communizing the entire Korea, and respond to our efforts to build
a genuine national community on the Korean Peninsula.
