Library Services
Resources Available to Non-UCSD Patrons

The following resources are available for remote access by the general public:

ROGER Catalog
Holdings of the UCSD Libraries (i.e., what books and journals are owned here).
Login as "library" after connecting to the ROGER Catalog.

MELVYL Catalog (CAT)
Library holdings in the UC system and beyond.
Type 'CAT' at the MELVYL System's main screen.
Quicker alternative: type 'TEN' to search the last ten years only.

Note: Use of the MELVYL System article databases requires a UC password, but the MELVYL catalog of library holdings is freely available.

AIDS Databases
Several AIDS-related databases, managed by the National Library of Medicine.
See our guide for connection information.

Catalogs of Individual Libraries
You have access to hundreds of libraries worldwide through this guide to geographical and topical listings.

Due to licensing restrictions, we cannot make the other databases available to the general public unless they are used from within the UCSD Libraries. If you need an article search but do not wish to visit the UCSD Libraries, the PLUS Information Service may be able to help you. This fee-based service of the UCSD Libraries can search the commercial versions of most databases listed here, and send you the results. Contact the PLUS Information Service for a price estimate.
