- The American Association for Cancer Research
(AACR) provides extensive information about the organization with membership
details, in its Home Page. The Public Education Section includes several
Fact Sheets on individual cancers. Also included is the AACR scientific
meeting schedule, information about research fellowships and travel awards,
and postdoc training opportunities. AACR provides a link to tables of contents
of their journals, instructions for Authors, and full text of the association
newsletter.
- American Cancer Society
- Official web site of the American Cancer
Society. Contains lists of their programs, events, press releases, grants,
meetings, and publications.
- California Cancer Registry
- The California Cancer Registry (CCR) collects
information on all cancers diagnosed in California. The CCR's Home Page
provides links to annual reports on cancer incidence and mortality by Race/Ethnicity
in California. Also included is the full text of the publication Breast
Cancer in California. This is a new home page with more full text publications
forthcoming.
- CancerNet
- From the National Cancer Institute. It
contains information on NCI publications, products, and clinical oncology
program. CancerNet also contains current clinical treatment statements
for physicians (PDQ database), patient information statements, and drug
information summaries.
- CancerTrials
- The National Cancer Institute launched
CancerTrials in April 1998. This site includes good explanatory information
on understanding clinical trials and on deciding to participate in them.
It includes a link to NCI's PDQ clinical trials search for locating specific
clinical trials. This site also has news updates and a detailed NCI
Clinical Trials Booklet.
- OncoLink (University of Pennsylvania)
- University of Pennsylvania's multimedia
oncology information resource. It contains information for health care
professionals and patients and their families, such as clinical trials,
meetings, and psychosocial support.
- Report
on Carcinogens
- The Environmental Health Information Service's
Report on Carcinogens. This site includes a list of chemicals known to
be carcinogens and those anticipated to be carcinogens. Included also is
a full report on the known carcinogens and a long and comprehensive list
of references.
- SEER Cancer Statistics
- This is the SEER Program's (Surveillance,
Epidemiology, and End Results) web site. This site contains SEER news items
and press releases, in addition to a wealth of statistical information
from the SEER electronic publications. The publications include the
SEER Cancer Statistics Review 1973-1995, Racial/Ethnic patterns of Cancer
in the U.S., and Cancer Rates and Risks.
