Other Starting Points
> BIOSITES: Animal Welfare
BIOSITES is the Pacific Southwest Regional Medical Library's service listing high-quality evaluated Web sites - this is the animal welfare section.

> World-Wide Web Virtual Library: Animal Health, Well-Being, and Rights
> Yahoo: Animal Experimentation
These two sites are collections of Web sites on animal experimentation and animal rights. Good for pointers to organizations and activists on both sides of the debate.

Library Searches
The following links will send you to the UCSD Libraries' ROGER catalog and run a search for books, whole journals, and other items on that subject. You can then use the "Limit" option on the ROGER screen to narrow down the search by date, type of material, library location, etc. These subject headings are presented here as good starting points. Once in ROGER, you may want to try other search strategies to meet your particular needs.
The next link will execute a MEDLINE search in PubMed on the major Medical Subject Heading:
  • Animal Testing Alternatives.
There are well over 300 articles on the topic, but the most recent articles are displayed first. These are articles about the topic of alternatives, not necessarily articles about particular research applications.
